The Records section holds all your records pertaining to permits, sampling data, inspections, etc. Your site may have a variation of the sections shown below depending on suite and specific site environmental compliance needs.
Stormwater: Routine Inspections
If you click on Stormwater: Routine Inspections, your inspections will appear to the right. If you click on one of the inspections, you will be directed to your inspection for completion or review. Routine inspections generally are done on clear days and you will inspect your best management practices (BMPs)/stormwater control measures & industrial areas/activities for deficiencies and log any non-stormwater discharges. If there is a problem or a deficiency, you will need to determine the source of the problem and assign someone a corrective action to put an end to the problem. In the software you will navigate through sections including, but not limited to (see below):
- Inspection Info
- Outfalls
- Current Control Measures/Best Management Practices
- Other Non-Compliance Issues
- Certification
When a section has been completed, the box to the left of the section name will change from a white box to a dark gray box with a white check mark.
After clicking "Done” on the Certification section, you will be able to click “Download Form” to download a PDF version of the inspection you just completed.
To return to the main menu, you will click the “mapistry” icon in the upper left-hand corner of the page.
Stormwater: Visual Assessments
After returning to the Records section, you can click on Stormwater: Visual Assessments. Your visual assessments will appear on the right and you will be able to click on your chosen visual assessment. Visual assessments are done on a rainy day and usually include the inspection of your outfalls and any non-stormwater discharges. When inspecting your outfall discharge(s), you will be looking for any strange odors, discoloration, oil sheens, etc. If you see something odd in your discharge or you see a non-stormwater discharge occurring, you will need to determine the source of the problem and assign someone a corrective action to put an end to the problem. In the software you will navigate through sections including, but not limited to (see below):
- Rainfall Event (RE)
- Sample Assessment
- Certification
When a section has been completed, the box to the left of the section name will change from a white box to a dark gray box with a white check mark.
After clicking “Done” on the Certification section, you will be able to click “Download Form” to download a PDF version of the inspection you just completed.
Stormwater: SWPPP/BMP Plan and Update Log
After returning to the Records section on the main page, you will be able to click on “SWPPP”, or in some sites’ cases, “BMP Plan”. You will be able to download or upload a copy of your SWPPP/BMP Plan by clicking on the icon “SWPPP” or “BMP Plan” that pops up in the upper right-hand corner of the Records section. If you already have a SWPPP that has been uploaded but you would like to upload another version to replace the older version, click on the cloud icon with the up arrow to the right of "SWPPP" or "BMP Plan".
SWPPP Builder
Mapistry also includes a SWPPP builder (contact us at info@mapistry.com to enable for your account), which allows you to write your own SWPPP through a TurboTax-like interface. The various sections of your SWPPP are built based on your answers to questions like the ones below about your facility.
The SWPPP Update Log will keep track of any updates you have made to your SWPPP. You can click on the desired date in the log to get more information on what was changed. Click on the "+" next to "SWPPP Update Log" to add another SWPPP update. The following window will pop up in which you will add details of the update and then save the changes.
Stormwater: Sampling Results
Then, you will have a Sampling Results section which will show you your sampling result analyses by clicking on Sampling Results. Under Sampling Results will be all the sampling parameters you labeled. There will be either a green checkmark, a yellow warning sign or a red warning sign indicating your exceedances (hover over the symbols for further details). The requirement of analyzing your stormwater samples varies by state and may or may not be a requirement for your specific site.
Once you click on "Detailed Results", a pop-up window will appear with your sampling results (see below). Each sampling event will have a different tab and you will be able to switch between sampling event dates by clicking on the tab with the desired sampling event date.
You will be able to add parameters through the Add/Download Parameters section. Just select the desired parameter from the drop-down list and click "Add".
The last section shows are the current parameters, along with the data that has been input. Here you will input your data for each respective parameter. Once you have entered the data, click "Save".
If there is a parameter showing up that you no longer needed, just click the red trash bin icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Parameter section.

Your frequent inspections will appear on the right and you will be able to click on your chosen frequent inspection. Frequent inspections are done on a frequency specified in your SPCC plan. When doing an SPCC frequent inspection, you will be inspecting all applicable containers, equipment, piping, valves, etc. If there is some kind of deficiency identified during the inspection, you will need to determine the source of the problem and assign someone a corrective action to put an end to the problem. In the software you will navigate through sections including, but not limited to (see below):

- Notes
When a section has been completed, the box to the left of the section name will change from a white box to a dark gray box with a white check mark.

After returning to the Records section, you can click on SPCC: Bermed Release Form. Your forms will appear on the right and you will be able to click on your chosen form. Bermed release forms are completed each time accumulated water is drained from secondary containment for applicable SPCC containers.
